    All About Cleaning Your Kitchen

The kitchen. It’s one of the most important spaces in your entire house. It’s also one of the spaces in which you will spend the most time. That’s why cleaning your kitchen (and cleaning it right!) is very important. In this article, we are going to talk about all the different things you need to clean in your kitchen in order to keep it in tip-top shape.

The first thing (and one of the most important) is your kitchen sink. Because we rely on our sink for fresh water, it’s very important that no contaminants or grime get in the way of our cooking. Grime and bacteria are not good to digest and can lead to poor health, so we must do a thorough job of cleaning our sink.

We must scrub down the faucet, the basin of the sink, and all control knobs for the faucet. Warm soap and water, along with a sponge or scrubbing pad, work excellently to eliminate all normal types of gunk that we may find on these surfaces. It’s especially important to make sure that we scrub for mold around the entrance of the water faucet, as it’s very prone to growing here due to moisture. Once we have thoroughly scrubbed down our sink, it’s very important to then rinse all grime down the drain. Once this is done, we have successfully achieved a thorough cleaning of our sink.

Next up, we must clean our countertops. We place a great many things on these surfaces, such as food, utensils, napkins, paper towels, etc. Since all of these items will come in direct contact with our kitchen countertops, it’s essential that the surface is spick and span. Luckily, cleaning off our countertops is an easy task and one that usually does not require much effort. Like cleaning a sink, warm soap and water do an excellent job of cleaning it off. One such scrubbing device that does an excellent job of cleaning is a Scrub Daddy! This nifty little sponge will achieve very high-quality results for all of your cleaning needs.

Thirdly, we must do a deep cleaning of our oven. Because we use this to cook various types of food, they can get VERY dirty. We must open up our oven and remove all racks and shelves in order to do a proper job of cleaning. You may require a hard-bristled brush or a medium-hardness scrubbing pad to really get the grime off of there.

Additionally, ovens will get a very heavy build up of grease. Because of this, it is highly recommended to use a heavy-duty degreaser to help break down all the gunk and grease in your oven. We must also apply this cleaning process to our shelves and cooking racks as well, since those will also most likely be dirty.

On top of cleaning our ovens, we must also clean our microwave. This should not take super long and usually does not require any specialty chemicals in order to clean. Removing the plate on the bottom of the microwave and cleaning off that and the microwave itself will usually suffice. Again (like the countertops and sink), we can use soap and warm water on any type of sponge in order to clean off these surfaces.

Finally, we clean off the cabinets. Usually, the biggest buildup of dirt on our cabinets is dust. We can simply use a duster or a paper towel with water in order to clean off our cabinets. It’s important to do this to reduce the amount of contaminants we are breathing in and to try to prevent these things from getting into our food.

And there you have it. Those are some of the most important surfaces to clean off in your kitchen and how to clean them. Of course, there are plenty of other things that need to be regularly cleaned off as well however that is a topic for another day.

  • Cleaning Your Bathroom

    Cleaning Your Bathroom

Let’s face it. Nobody wants to clean their bathroom. Between the toilet, sink, floor, and shower, there is a ton of nasty grime that is anything but enjoyable to maintain. Cleaning a bathroom is like eating vegetables. It’s not something people want to do—it’s something that HAS to be done.

Because bathrooms are used for various reasons, such as shaving, taking a shower, and using the toilet, they get dirty much quicker than any other room in a house. Because of this, the bathroom needs to be cleaned the most often! And not just cleaned, but DEEP cleaned.

Soap scum, excretion residue, dirt, and hair are all things commonly found in a typical bathroom. All of these things require a different method of cleaning. Below are ways to tackle each of these different types of grime.

For hair, the objective is simple. Loose pieces of hair can be swept from the floor, or a wet paper towel can be used to swipe it off of any surface. Hair sticks very well to water, so cleaning in this manner is very efficient.

For dirt, soap and water are effective. Plenty of soap and water can clean any amount of dirt. By scrubbing or mopping a dirty surface, dirt easily comes off of anything!

Soap scum is a bit trickier. Usually, soap scum has to be scraped off of a surface before it can be disposed of. At the same time, it is important not to scratch or damage the various surfaces. Because of this, it is highly recommended to use tools specifically designed with this application in mind. Avoiding tools with sharp edges will prevent serious damage to property.

For excretion material in a toilet, the main step is to scrub and sanitize the entire surface of the toilet bowl very thoroughly. Doing so will ensure that the majority of this contaminant is removed. Using any standard toilet bowl scrubber will suffice. Additionally, any sort of specially designed powder or chemical for a toilet bowl will also work. Always follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions and never mix different cleaning products together, as this can create dangerous fumes. After scrubbing is complete, flushing the toilet one to two times ensures that all of the loose residue washes down the drain.

And there you have it. That is a recommended way to clean of various types of grime from a bathroom! Please note that there are plenty of alternative cleaning methods which can also work. These are just the ones recommended here; however, everyone has there own unique way of doing things. So remember, it’s very important to clean the bathroom, and ESPECIALLY the toilet and tub. Good luck and happy cleaning!

  • The Importance of Cleaning

    The Importance of Cleaning

Cleaning is something we all do. Whether it’s a bathroom, exterior surface, or a car, we all clean. There are a great many reasons why cleaning is something that is SO important. Here are five great reasons!

It reduces germs and sickness. Let’s face it – nobody likes getting sick. Between coughing, headaches, fevers and the like, it is by no means a good time. When you get sick you can miss out on things like work, special events, and spending time with your family. Easily preventable sickness is highly recommended! Doing your due diligence is not something you will ever come to regret. On the other hand, getting sick from not maintaining your surfaces is definitely something you will come to regret.

It boosts mental health. Living in a clean environment allows people to feel safe and mentally clear. Clutter, grime, and dirt make your mind feel bad. Our entire quality of life centers around our mental and emotional health. We wake up feeling well rested, smile when we talk to people, and are most focused and driven in our work. It is the one thing that affects all aspects of our lives more than anything else.

It prevents pests and bugs. Things like ants, cockroaches, and other types of pests love unsanitized surfaces. Gross! Ants and cockroaches are very difficult to get rid of once they infest your living spaces. They can also be very expensive to get rid of and can also require a professional extermination company. Avoiding the hassle of having to pay money for a service you otherwise would not have needed is well worth it.

It prevents damage to certain surfaces. Replacing furniture, tools, and other objects can be very expensive. That’s why when you maintain your stuff by cleaning it you also preserve its lifespan. Things like rust, mold, and other types of cleanable contaminants often corrode your property over periods of time. This can leave you feeling like you regret not cleaning things off like it is recommended!

It improves indoor air quality and safety. Breathing in things like mold or dust is not good for you. Our lungs are not designed to be breathing things like that in all day. This is another excellent reason why you should always be sanitizing your property and surfaces so that you can avoid this problem. Additionally, it is ALWAYS worth having your air filters periodically swapped out for new ones to avoid this problem of dust.
